An ode to Surrealism

Found love when she least expected it,
water for a traveler in the desert.
The nights bloomed with conversations,
days spent in remembrance.
Surreal one might say,
never been more real she’d feel.
Dived deep into his soul,
And opened herself to him.
She felt vulnerable and so did he,
For the depths can be scary.
It was so brief,
Spent the rest of her days in grief.
She wonders,
What a beautiful dream.

Surrealism amazes me so much because everything we once had felt bizarre but it was so close to reality. Yet, it was so distant from becoming our truth. One day you have it and then it vanishes into thin air. You keep chasing but the question is, where are you going to find something that wasn’t real- or was it? We live in this paradox and we die with this paradox.
